The road to 13.1: Preparing for winter
Borgess Run Camp running takes place outside. As such, those of us interested in training for a race without freezing — literally — need to be prepared for the weather. At Gazelle Sports tonight, along with BRC packet pick-up, we enjoyed a winter weather apparel clinic. The good folks at Gazelle gave us advice on what to wear to stay warm and dry during our training. After the clinic, Christina offered up some personalised advice. We reached the verdict that I actually have everything I need. Admittedly, I was a bit relieved. I’ve invested a decent amount of money in gear designed to keep me warm during winter runs.
Dear Dr CV,
See? I actually followed your directions on something.
Sincerely,
Darrell
To help us get ready for winter running, BRC hooked us up with some sweet mittens emblazoned with the Borgess Run for the Health of It logo. Here’s a peek:
The BRC binder contains all sorts of useful information and training programs. Of course, my training program was chosen for me. Orthopædists treating you for hamstring injuries have opinions about that sort of thing, it seems. Now that I have my training program, I’ll be able to schedule the next three months of my life. It looks like I’ll be responsible for about four runs per week.
