The road to 13.1: Tracking every movement

10 February 2009

This morning, I got to use my new Garmin Forerunner 205 for the first time.  How spiffy it is!

Run #11:  4.00 miles, 42:10, 10:32.5/mile

I’ve only just started to tap into the features this little gadget offers, and it’s already great.  I didn’t have to worry about mapping my run; I just went out and started running.  It tracked distance, time, pace, calories burned, and even retained a map of the route.  Once I started, I went out two miles, then turned around and came back.  Until I learn how to use all the features, including the one that helps me go back the way I came, I’ll have to be sure that I’m not running off in the middle of nowhere.  That wasn’t going to happen today, though.  I ran through a nice, quiet Lansing neighbourhood.  My route didn’t offer a lot of traffic, but it offered some elevation changes, including a reasonably challenging hill.  I enjoyed the challenge, and I am pleased with the pace I maintained.
