The road to 13.1: Try and catch the wind

13 February 2009

Those Donovan lyrics have always annoyed me; really, I’d prefer he had written and sung, “… try to catch the wind” (emphasis added).  Regardless, I didn’t have to try very hard to catch the wind; in fact, it would have been impossible for me to avoid it during my Thursday morning run.  I considered going to WMU to run, but it wasn’t raining, so I gave it a go.

Run #12:  3.14 miles, 30:56, 9:51/mile

It wasn’t a wind-aided time, as I spent as much time running into the wind as I did running with it at my back.  It was a good run, and I’m very happy with my time.

After the run, I headed off to physical therapy.  While there, my therapist and one of the other staff analysed my running gait.  They think they know why I’m getting shin splints.  Basically, my right foot does some weird stuff during my stride.  My therapist has given me some additional stretches to do, and we may do other things to help alleviate my problem.
