The road to 13.1: Superfeet
As part of my ongoing efforts to ditch my shin splints, I ran today with my new Superfeet inserts in my shoes. They were the product of some conversation at Gazelle Sports and advice from my physical therapist. Today’s run was pretty short.
Run #26: 3.11 miles, 28:57, 9:19/mile
I’m absolutely stunned by the time. I bested my previous personal record for 5K by around 1:41. I was also completely exhausted by the run. I felt more tired than I did after yesterday’s 11-mile run. My feet don’t hurt, though. My shin is a bit sore, but probably less than it would have been had I not been using the inserts and paying attention to my gait.
I celebrated by hanging with some friends in Three Rivers this evening. Jen, a fellow half-marathon trainee, invited me down to hang with her husband and a friend. We had a good time. I even got beads.

omg! I can’t believe you would have ever ventured to get beads.
Why is that, Bridgette? You probably can’t believe that I got home around 2230 hours EDT on a Sunday night, either, can you?
well, for one you aren’t a girl.
and 10:30 isn’t that late. I was sooooo out later.
It’s true. I’m not a girl. A guy didn’t give me the beads, though.
You’re right; 2230 isn’t that late. For me, though, it’s pretty late.
