The road to 13.1: Finding my race pace

13 March 2009

I planned to run my 5 miles at a nice, easy 10:45/mile pace.  I decided to meet up with Sheila at Water Street on Oakland Drive; Nancy and Sophia were also on hand for the festivities.  The result wasn’t quite what I had expected.

Run #28:  5 miles, 50:28, 10:05.6/mile

I was very surprised that I finished so well.  It was a more comfortable pace than I realised it would be.  It left me wondering what my race pace might be.  I felt sufficiently good post-run, and finished my run sufficiently well, that I’m thinking I might be capable of more than I’m delivering.  I don’t want to overdo it, but I don’t want to sell it short, either.
