Photoblog: Random entertainment

4 April 2009

I’ve had a chance to snap photos and/or videos of some rather interesting stuff over the past couple of weeks.  Where should I start?  Let’s do a photo.

This was a gift from one of my friends at the Federal Highway Administration.  Folks, you know you’re living right when the federal government presents you with a Jolly Roger.  Arrr!  I’m thinking that, the next time I attend a meeting at which I’m seeking funding for something, I’m taking this with me.

How about another photo?

Biggby Coffee was giving these tops away recently, and I managed to snag one (along with a Mocha Caramel).  I find that it’s therapeutic to spin this a time or two when I’m a little stressed.  Sometimes, this happens while I’m trying to figure out what to say in an e-mail.  In any case, it’s helpful.

Dear Biggby,

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Darrell

Let’s go with one more photo.

Folks sometimes tell you to not blindly trust a GPS unit.  I chose not to before going to Indiana for work, and checked out a map.  The folks who were riding with me checked out a map, too.  All of the maps told us that our trip to St Patrick’s County Park ended when we took State Line Road to Laurel Road and turned left.  Well, the top sign agrees with that assessment; unfortunately, the bottom sign did not.  The bottom sign won out, too.  Fortunately, we found our way there, and weren’t the only folks to be confused.

Disclaimer:  The good folks at the St Joseph County Parks Department submitted a correction to those online map folks.  The online map folks just chose to entertain themselves at our expense.  With that in mind …

Dear GPS and online map people,

You suck.

Sincerely,

Darrell
