Safari’s end
Everything, at least on this earth, ends. The fun things and the painful things … the happy and the sad … the easy and the hard … they all end. So, too, Summer Safari ended. It ended today, actually, after what was (for me) a leisurely, fun 8-mile jaunt, much of it along routes that I have frequented this year. I was running ever-so-slightly later than normal, but I still made it on time. I spent most of the run chatting with Sarah, as various other folks drifted into and out of the conversation, and as the conversation drifted from my slowly-beating heart to Spaceballs to college fight song lyrics. There were other topics, too, but I don’t remember what they all were.
Oh, as for the run itself, here’s the all-important information:
8 miles, 1:18:17, 9;47/mile, 120 average bpm
My average heart rate per mile actually trended downward during the run. I’m becoming very fascinated by this heart rate stuff.
After the run, I made a relatively brief appearance at a postage stamp show in Kalamazoo, snagging some nifty items for my collection. After that, I got to hang out with Emily at Water Street Coffee Joint, partaking in tasty coffees and board games. We played Trivial Pursuit and Bananagrams, and we had a great time doing so.
All in all, it was a great day, even before Alabama won at Mississippi and the Los Angeles Dodgers finished off the St Louis Cardinals.
Dear Cardinals Fans I Know,
I won’t be rubbing this in your faces. I respect the Cardinals, and I respect you. St Louis had a great season and definitely deserved to be in the playoffs.
Sincerely,
Darrell
I finished off my day by listening to Verne Lundquist continue his hero-worship of Tim Tebow while watching Florida’s game at LSU.
